New Deputy Director of Federal Programs Announced
Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Luna is pleased to announce that Nick Smith will return to the State Department of Education as the Deputy Superintendent of the Federal Programs Division. Smith was recently the Director of Education Programs at the Idaho Digital Learning Academy. Prior to his position at IDLA, Smith served as the Deputy Superintendent of School Support Services for more than four years.
Prior to his work at the Department, Smith was a principal in the Bliss School District and a social studies teacher.As Deputy, Smith will oversee all federal programs including child nutrition, Title I, school improvement and special education. A special thanks to Rich Henderson for his service as Interim Deputy Superintendent of Federal Programs this year. Henderson will continue to serve as Director of Special Education at the State Department of Education.
